Fun Things To Do This Summer that Make You Feel Like You're In Hawaii
Nothing says vacation like a trip to Hawaii, however, it's not always feasible. Sometimes, you just have to make do with what you have. Here are some fun ideas to make you feel like you're in Hawaii when your budget can't quite get you there.
Turn Your Backyard Into A Luau
No doubt ... it's fun and easy to turn your backyard into a luau. Simply plan for a great pit (IMU) barbecue and buy half a pig and plan a Hawaiian Luau party. You'll want to have a safe area that you can do this. Check out our post on how to build an IMU Hawaiian style.
Plan Luau themed party items such as coconut cups to drink from, straws that have umbrellas attached, leis for everyone to wear and Hawaiin themed clothing (we got your covered ... pun intended ... on this one).
Don't forget some pineapples for decor and of course, plenty of fun tropical fruit and beverages that will fit the theme.
Grab some grass-skirted tables and other fun items to round out the theme. And if you want to go all out you can even set up a pergola and decorate it in Hawaiin themes as well.
Pool Side Hawaiian Party
If you have a pool in your backyard you can decorate the area in a Hawaiin theme. Simply use your grass-skirts for decor in and around the pool area and add in some fun colors. If you want supplies for the Tiki Bar that you know you need to have, we got your back here as well with some great Tiki Bar supplies.
Choose some fun fruits such as Pineapples and other fruits and add these in for decor on the tables. If you're really up to it you can build a pineapple tree.
Have friends and family choose floral motifs for bathing suits and clothing (oh yeah ... pun intended ... we got you covered here also) and add in some grass mats here and there for an added theme.
Don't forget the leis and other decors that goes along with the theme. Play some fun Hawaiian music (here some live stations) and throw a Hawaiian pool party with all the friends and family invited.
Create A Hawaiian Private Oasis
A private Hawaiian oasis is always a nice touch. Decorate a pergola so that it's Hawaiin themed. Add in some fun flowers (list here) that might grow in Hawaii and some rattan furnishing.
Don't forget some throw pillows in bright florals and colors. Bring the theme home with some Tiki masks in and around the pergola as well as a few of the grass-skirts to hang on some of the furniture.
Don't forget some rattan or grass mats here and there as well. Tiki torches can help to repel mosquitos at night with citronella in them.
Oh yeah, maybe add some bamboo here and there as well. Maybe a waterfall with some bamboo growing nearby would be a fun addition. You'll have a wonderful time kicking back drinking some Hawaiin cocktails or coffee and enjoying the fun decor of your private Hawaiian Oasis. Decorating your yard to look Hawaiin will help you to feel as if you're really there and you'll be able to take a nice break from reality even if you can't visit Hawaii itself.
You'll have a wonderfully relaxing area that you can escape from when you're needing a break from your daily grind. Let your imagination run wild and you'll have a great time in your private oasis that will make you feel like you are in Hawaii.
